Maddilyn: 11 months

Maddilyn is 11 months old and counting.  Only 18 days until we celebrate the day she was born. That was one of the most exciting days of my life. How much life has changed since that day, for the better. It's hard to remember what life was like before Maddilyn. She is such an important part of our family.

Maddi loves emptying the clothes out of Kimee and Audrey's dresser. It is a bit frustrating when clean clothes have just been folded and put away, but she loves it and it keeps her busy for a while. But no more folded clothes in the drawers for awhile. . .

She even tries to put a few back in!

As you know, Maddi loves eating. She really likes bananas, and not just little pieces cut up. She gnaws off of the entire thing. Her two teeth do the job! In the last week or so Maddi has stopped eating baby food. I guess she's had enough of that and only wants the real thing.

Maddi fell asleep in her high chair at dinner time. But Audrey couldn't believe she was really asleep.
So Audrey put another piece of Eggo into Maddi's mouth, just to see if she would eat it? I'm not sure the logic on this one, but it did make for a funny picture.

Maddi has missed her afternoon nap a few times recently, so here we have her again, asleep in the high chair at dinner time. So cute!

This month went by too quickly, and now it's just a countdown to when Maddi turns one. We are so excited for her birthday! We are going to have a huge party to celebrate this wonderful little girl. We are hoping for nice weather on the 13th so we don't all have to be inside :)

Happy Birthday, Dave!

Dave's birthday wasn't spectacular this year, especially compared with last year's week long celebration and multiple birthday cakes. Sorry, honey! But we did manage to make a cake and hang a few decorations. I didn't even make his favorite dinner, but we did have corned beef and cabbage in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

We also went out to eat at the Outback the next night, which he has been wanting to do for a long time. We brought the kids and they barely touched their kids meal. They LOVED the bread, steamed broccoli, and Dave's prime rib. Kimee even said, "Next time, I want to get what Daddy got." If that's the case, for our budget's sake, there may never be a next time.

On Friday, I took the day off from work with Dave so we could have some time without the kids. We went shopping and started watching 24, which has been on our DVR since the new season started. We are now almost caught up to the current episode.

David is such a good dad and husband. He works so hard to keep everyone happy. The girls adore their dad and I do too. Happy Birthday, Dave! We love you so much!

St. Patrick's Day

Kimee's class came to my classroom to perform some poems they learned for St. Patrick's Day.
Here she is in her cute leprechaun hat and vest.

Kimee was dressed from head to toe in green, including green shoes, earrings, and hair bows.
Audrey had adorable pigtails that Jill put in- but you can't see them with this headband on.

Audrey made this cute shamrock hat in preschool that same day. She makes the funniest faces when posing for the camera. I wish I could get one of her adorable smiles. :) I love having Audrey attend preschool at my school. She comes to my classroom after school. It is so fun to be at the same school together!

church

Audrey got to give her first prayer in Primary closing exercises on Sunday. She wasn't nervous or anything and she did a great job. Kimee gave a talk on following the prophet. She told a story from the Friend Magazine about how following the prophet is like brushing your teeth. If you want, you can read it here. This was only Kimee's second talk since she's been in Primary and she did great. She was so excited and it was nice that she could do it all by herself!

Cookie Party

We had such a fun family get-together at our house when my brother Mike and his son Ezra were in town. Everyone brought their favorite toppings for a yummy Hawaiian Haystacks dinner. Then we had a huge variety of cookies for dessert and played some cookie games. We ate lots of cookies and had a great time visiting. My kids loved this party so much. They talked about it for days afterward.

The kids loved the "Cookin' Cookies" game. Audrey calls it "Rotten Egg"because if you get a rotten egg card you have to put all your ingredients back and start over.

The older kids and adults had fun playing "Toss Your Cookies".
Thanks Mike for coming to visit!

Midway

Dave and I both had the day off on Friday, so Thursday night we took a short trip up the canyon for an overnighter in Midway. As I was packing and getting stuff ready to go, I was wondering if it was really worth it for only one night.

1 Night in Midway
Snow + gorgeous view + deer on the lawn + swimming x3 + movie and caramel popcorn + spending time with Mariah and Emma + cousins playing + cool spiral staircase up to loft + yummy french toast for breakfast + playing games + Homestead fudge= TOTALLY WORTH IT!

This was the view out our big window.

(The camera got fogged up pretty fast at the pool, so that why some of these pictures look a little fuzzy.)
Maddi was happy for only a short time in her Baby Float.
I think she got cold and/or scared,
because after that she was only happy holding on tight to mom or dad.

Kimee and Emma being mermaids.

1, 2, 3 JUMP!

Maddi loved sitting at the table with the big girls.

Audrey up in the loft.

 Kimee making cookies.

The girls playing games.

And last but not least, we stopped by the Homestead Gift Shop on the way home and picked up some delicious fudge. All of said fudge was consumed within 24 hours. When do we go again?

Maddi LOVES eating!

Maddi only has two teeth, but that doesn't stop her from eating anything we let her. Grapes and blueberries are favorites because not only do they taste good, but they are fun to watch rolling across the high chair tray.
Here is Maddi eating a Costco muffin, wrapper and all...

And her first potsticker!

Who gave her that Twinkie???
