Sick of Sickness

I am officially sick of sickness. It is one of the things I absolutely hate the most. I don't get sick very often myself, but when my kids get sick it stresses me out so much.
OK, so I started this post about a week ago, but didn't finish for a few reasons.
1. I was too sick to do much of anything.
2. It's seems too depressing. I don't really want to have my blog be negative.
3. Who wants to read about other people being sick?

But now, that we are onto simultaneous sickness #3 or 4, depending on how you count it, I am really mad. But it's almost embarrassing. I know there is more I should be doing as a mom to make sure my kids don't get sick. Are they taking their vitamin every day? Are they getting enough fluids? Rest? Are they eating an apple every day?
I must say that before this all started, I was thinking about how grateful I was that my kids had been well for so long, like several months. (Audrey's runny noses not counting, of course.) So maybe in a month or so this will be a distant memory, but right now it seems like it will never end. . .

Someday I am going to want to remember this. . . and laugh.
Sickness #1
Everyone gets it, one person at a time. A fever and bad cough. I lucked out to not get the fever and only got a small cough, but it is still hanging around.
Sickness #2
Only Kimee and I get this stomach bug, thank goodness. But I get it really bad and it lasts for 6 days. Bad enough that I get really dehydrated and end up having a lot of contractions for several days. There is a much longer story to this, but to sum it all up, I felt terrible. I was so extremely happy to get my energy back yesterday. I had almost forgotten how much can get done in a day when I'm not completely dragging.
Sickness #3
Audrey gets what I think is an ear infection. Waking up, screaming and pulling on her ear. After an hour or so, Motrin and a hot water bottle helps her sleep. Days of wicking out fluid and putting in ear drops results in . . . her little tiny blue tube coming out (It's OK. It's been just over a year since it was put in and I have been waiting and wondering about when and how it would come out). I now think that may have been the cause for all the screaming and fluid. I've got to call her ear doctor today.
Sickness #4
Kimee wakes up at 4 this morning with a fever! How can this be? We've all been sick and we are DONE with it. There is no more sickness is allowed in my house! Not 'til next winter. . . not 'til forever.

  1. I totally feel your pain! And, when I am pregnant, I get EVERYTHING my kids get, so I know that makes it worse for you. I hope you all get well soon. I hate sickess and winter too (because of the sickness). And, a little FYI from my husband - it is normal for kids to get 7-10 colds per year - other sickness aside. You do what you can, wash your hands, and hold on tight because winter can be a bear!

  2. I am so sorry. Lilly just said today that she wanted to go to Bear Land with Kimee and Audrey and I was going to call you to get together sometime soon, but I will give you a day. We have had some but nothing compared to yours. I agree you should be DONE and the fever is a fluke, let's say.
