On Aug. 6, 2013 we took a trip up to Logan for another summer adventure. We had thought about going to the Manti pageant, and the dates didn't work for us. Then we read about the Clarkston Pageant, the story of Martin Harris. We had been wanting to go up and visit Hadley since she was working in Logan for the summer, so we made a trip out of it. First we met up with Hadley and Emma at Hadley's apartment. We went to the Pepperidge farm outlet, and then to the Fat Boys outlet (which was awesome, by the way). They have a creamery with the yummiest ice cream, and very unique and delicious flavors. We all tried something new and loved every bite.
Then we stopped at the Taco Maker (made famous in Napoleon Dynamite) for dinner. It was great because it had burgers, pizza, and tacos so everyone could have what they wanted. We were planning to stop at a park on the way to eat, but there were just fields. So by the time we got to Clarkston, we just decided to go to the pageant grounds so we could get a parking place and eat on the grass there. Our food was a little stale, and I kinda regretted not eating it right away.
Well, little did we know, it was good we came when we did. Within 30 minutes, there was a really long line of cars coming on to the single road leading up to the pageant. Then, we were so glad we got there when we did. They kids got a little tired of waiting, but we got to interact with the cast members and missionaries, and our awesome cousins so it wasn't too bad. The stage is set right near Martin Harris' grave in the little cemetery, so we got to walk around and see some interesting historical things. Kimee thought it was funny that boys were looking at her and Emma with googly eyes.
The show ended up starting a little late because there were so many people still trying to get in. It was really crowded, but buzzing with excitement. There were quite a few youth conference groups and family reunions attending. The pageant itself was really good. The church history was testimony building. The kids really enjoyed the story and the dancing and singing was fun to watch. We were so glad we were able to come and have this amazing experience. Very fond memories to last a long time:)
