Temple Open House/Labor Day

For Labor Day, I planned a special trip up to see the Brigham City Temple Open House.
We did all of our projects in the yard on Saturday and left for our little trip on Monday.
We stopped at the SouthTowne mall to check out the sales at Claire's, and the girls thought the glass elevator was totally awesome. We had to go up and down the escalator several times as well.

When we got to Brigham City, we checked in to our hotel. Then we went swimming. The pool was cold and murky, so we didn't stay long. Then we went for a drive, and looked for a park and a place to eat dinner.  We wanted to find someplace unique to Brigham City. Everywhere we drove past we super crowded. We drove past the temple. It was stunningly beautiful.

There were huge lines wrapped all around it. We were glad we weren't going to the open house on Labor Day. We found out the next day that the lines were about 4 hours long. Just over 22,000 people went through the open house in one day.

We found a park and stopped to play for a while. Then we went back to a place close to the park. We were there for over an hour before we got our food. When we got it, it was the wrong order and the burgers and fries were cold. Very disappointing. (We should have just gone to Arby's.) The shakes were really good though. We went back to the park to eat and play some more.

Tuesday morning, we woke up bright and early, ate the complimentary breakfast at the hotel, and then packed up and headed out for our assigned parking lot. We got right on the bus, which drove us to the temple. The girls love the bus ride!

We were so excited to get right in- no lines!
Here we are in the room that we watched the video about temples (trying to keep Maddi quiet).

The temple was so beautiful inside. Peach blossoms were everywhere, it was so neat. We could feel the Spirit so strong and knew this is the Lord's house. Afterwards, we got some yummy cookies and water bottles with a picture of the temple on them.

 So pretty!

We got back on the bus and headed home.
We had to be back to school at noon, and we made it in time.
It was a really special trip that I will always remember.
