Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day, not just on one day, but the whole weekend!
On Friday, we worked in the yard, mostly the back, weeding, planting, turning on sprinklers, etc. I love working outside, especially with Dave, and with the kids helping or playing. I had to take a picture so I could remember how good the yard starts out before the heat of the summer exhausts us. I love my backyard for relaxing, bird watching, kids playing, etc.


Friday night, we had a wonderful dinner of delicious, tender, grilled chicken, creamy pasta, and watermelon. For dessert, we made ice cream sundaes with homemade hot fudge sauce. It was absolutely so delicious. My sundae looked so good, I decided to take a picture of it. When I sat down to eat it, Audrey said, "Mommy, you eatin' breakfast?" I replied, yes, and decided it would be a great breakfast. After all, ice cream is one of the food groups in my opinion and can be eaten as a main dish if desired.

Saturday we planted the garden: tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, cantaloupe, corn, and raspberries are at the back. Kimee said to me yesterday, "Mom, I can't wait to make raspberry jam." I can't either! And she is a great helper.
We also planted pumpkin and watermelon in the flower bed along the back wall. I hope to do better on the garden this year than I did last year. I am not one to can and do a whole production with the garden. We just planted enough to have fresh veggies to eat, with maybe a little extra to freeze.


Sunday we took pictures of the girls with mom. The sun was too bright, so they didn't turn out great. We thought of going out again later, but never did. Oh well. The girls need at least one picture a year with their mom in it right? That night we went to Carol's for a yummy Mother's Day dinner/visit with her family and Dave's mom.
(We visited my mom on Thursday, but I will post pictures of that later.)
Thanks to my mom and David's mom for all they do and have done for us! Thanks to all the women (friends, sisters, teachers) that help in mothering my children, because I could not do it alone. I love being a mom! Having a brand new baby made this Mother's Day even more special to me. Happy Mother's Day!
